Golfing Shawnee Resort and Brewery Tour Tasting

golfing // brewery // shawnee // beer

The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort will be our host as we hit the links on an 'island' course on the scenic Delaware River.  After golf, we'll take a tour of their microbrewery and taste their hand craft brews - Yummy!

Today's golfing location - on the edge of the pristine Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and on the banks of the wild and scenic Delaware River.  The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort plays host to our group today and treats us to a course of which 24 of the 27 holes are on a private island on the river.  History tells a great story about Shawnee's legendary golf course.  Opened in 1911 and designed by famous golf course architect AW Tillinghast - who is also known for courses such as Baltusrol, Winged Foot, and Bethpage Black - it was not long before golf's biggest names began to take on Shawnee's challenge.  Walk in the footsteps of golf legends such as Sarazan, Snead, Hagan, Palmer, Irwin and others.  Shawnee was host to the 1938 PGA Championship as well as the 1967 NCAA National Championship.  When you play Shawnee, you are at one of the most prized Pennsylvania golf courses, known for it's water holes, undulating greens, and 'no-gimmick' straight forward pure golf.  What is pure golf?  It's nothing but fairway between you and the green, a distraction free round of golf in the tranquility of nature that can be enjoyed by golfers of all abilities.

After golf we'll head over to the resort's own microbrewery - the Shawnee Craft Brewery.  We'll get an tour of their facility - check out the inner workings, equipment, and what it takes to make some kick-ass and unique brews...and no doubt we will glean some cool tidbits of brewery knowledge from their brewmaster.  Shawnee Craft makes their brews with all-natural, whole-food ingredients sourced as locally and as organically as possible and according to centuries old traditions - small batch, handmade beers often aged for months or years in oak barrels - unfiltered, unpasteurized, free of any artificial preservatives or shelf stabilizing agents - and all keeping with the Fidelis Philosophy, "True to nature, True to the craft".  The resulting handmade beers are fresh, complex, and deeply satisfying.

After the tour we will cruise on over to Shawnee Craft's own brewpub - The Gem and Keystone Brewpub.  We will sample some of their specialty hand crafted brews and, if you wish, fuel-up with some tasty grub from their awesome menu before we head on back to the concrete jungle.

This trip includes transportation costs, continental breakfast in route, greens fees for 18 holes of golf, power golf cart, microbrewery tour and beer tasting at brewpub.

All trip details and final trip itinerary will be e-mailed to all registered guests the week of the trip date.
