Kayaking The Hudson River and Wine |
![]() This is the perfect place for a day of paddling. The majestic Hudson River is the venue for this trip as we explore the coastline near West Point with awesome views of Storm King Mountain and Breakneck Ridge. There is no better place to go paddling for the day than this particular area of the Hudson River. This is a must do trip for any kayaking enthusiast or anyone wanting to give it a try as no experience is necessary. Before starting our trip we will go over basic safety guidelines and learn correct paddling techniques. Just like riding a bike, you will get the hang of it before you know it and we’ll hit the open waters. We will explore along the east shoreline and paddle around Dennings Point Preserve, which is part of Hudson Highlands State Park, and into the mouth of Fishkill Creek. Along the way we will be treated to constant views of the massive Breakneck Ridge and Storm King Mountain to the south. The placid and serene waters of this area affords great landscape scenery, wildlife spotting and a sense of remoteness. We will stop for our picnic lunch along a small beach, relax, and gaze out over the mighty Hudson River and the gorgeous mountain scenery beyond. We will make our way back to the kayak put-in and head for home but not before a stop at a local vineyard on the Shawangunk Wine Trail to sample some the best local wines in the Hudson Valley. All trip details and final trip itinerary will be e-mailed to all registered guests the week of the trip date. |
