Hike Apple Picking and Wine Tasting |
![]() Our day will start as we set off up the Hudson Valley to Storm King State Park known for its amazing views of the Hudson River. Rugged Storm King mountain rises majestically from the Hudson topping out at 1300 feet above the river. This hike has numerous and unmatched views, the absolute best, of the river and other points of interest including Bannerman's Castle, the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson, and Constitution Marsh as we hike along the high ridge above. Today we will hike on a combination of old woods roads and technical/rocky hiking trails as we gradually make our way up to the ridge. We will hike for about 3 hours with plenty of stops along the way for sightseeing and picture taking (you will definitely want to bring your camera) including a great spot to enjoy our picnic lunch. After our morning hike we will begin the second part of our day by venturing out to a local orchard and winery in the foothills of the Hudson Valley. First, we will set off into the pick-your own orchards in search for some tasty apples. The orchard grows several varieties that ripen from early September to mid October and we will have our pick of their best. It goes without saying that these are not your common supermarket varieties that are grown in mass, sit in the store for extended periods, and are otherwise tasteless. To put it simply, it’s their taste that sets them apart from what you’ll find in the stores…and you can’t beat the freshness of picking your own…and did we mention that it’s fun too? After apple picking we will head on over to the vineyard to taste some of their award winning wines, relax, enjoy, and socialize a bit. What a great way to round out the day. All trip details and final trip itinerary will be e-mailed to all registered guests the week of the trip date. |
